League Format
All teams will be draft (individual registration). Players can choose to be paired on a team with ONE other player. Both players must choose the same pairing in the comments section of their registration. The league conveners will create 12 teams matched as evenly as possible.Pickups: There are very strict rules for pick up players in Winter league. If players cannot commit to a regular team they can register as a pickup player. Pickup costs are $25 for THREE games. Conveners will be marking player rosters and pickups each night.
Because we are playing on a CFB, all players have to be registered and ID'd upon entry to the base in order to play. Unregistered players cannot play under any circumstances. Teams found using unregistered players will default their game and possibly face additional penalties.
League Rules
Games: All games are at least 1 hour and 12 mins long. There is no point cap. Games must end before the start of the next game regardless of when the game started or the state of the disc. Defaulted games will be recorded as 12-0.Location: All games will be played at the StadPlex in CFB Stadacona. You must bring government photo ID in order to get into the Stad. You may not be ID'd each week, but you must always have ID when on the base. All player names will be given to the front gate and you are not allowed to enter the base unless you are on that list.
Scoring: All games will be played continuous format. After you score, hold the disc in the air to signal a point scored and then place the disc on the ground. Do not hand the disc to a player on the other team. Put the disc on the ground so everyone, score keeper included, knows that a point was scored.
Ratio: Teams can have 5 players on the "field" with no more than 3 of either gender with the ratio set by the captains before the game begins. This ratio should be held whenever possible. If both captains agree to allow a 4:1 ratio for part of the game, the ratio can be changed only during a timeout by the team in possession of the disc. If either team has 3 women, the ratio cannot be changed.
Timeouts: Each team can use 2, 45 second timeouts per game. If captains agree to allow a 4:1 ratio for part of the game, the ratio can be changed only during a timeout by the team in possession of the disc. The ratio should be held at 3:2 as much as possible.
Substitutions: All subs are made on the fly, but must be done at half court and you must tag the player you are replacing. A sub made without a tag or further than 2.5 m from the center line, is a 1 point penalty (the other team is awarded 1 extra point). A cone will be placed 2.5m on each side of the center line to mark the substitution area.
Pickups: Captains can pickup players from the pickup list, but must cycle through the list. A team can pickup the same player from the list only twice. After which that player becomes a non-list pickup for that team and a penalty is charged to the team if they use that player again.
If you need a pickup player at the game and have not found someone from the pickup list, your team captain can pickup a player from within the league, but will be charged a minimum 7 point penalty for each non-list pickup player added to your roster for that game. Non-list players who are picked up for penalties must be of similar skill level to the players being replaced. Captains can negotiate the amount of a point penalty if a players is of higher skill level then the person replaced. All pickup players must be registered either on the pickup list, or on other teams.
Out of Bounds: All overhanging objects within the court are considered out of bounds. (basketball nets, ropes, flags, etc.) If the disc hits any of these objects it is put into play at that location. If the disc is already out of bounds when it hits an out of bounds object, it is put into play at the point closest to where it first became out of bounds.
Footblocks: Footblocks are allowed as per 11th edition rules.
The Pull: All games start with a pull. Pulls that go out of bounds can be put into play at either:
- The sideline closest to where the disc went out of bounds; or
- The center of the playing field proper (excluding end-zones) closest to where the disc went out of bounds.
